Human–AI Interaction & Conversational Agents

Conversational avatars

How communication medium, embodiment, and AI-mediated interaction shape judgment, trust, credibility, bias, and confidence.

Research on LLM-powered conversational agents examines how communication medium, embodiment, and AI-mediated interaction influence human decision-making. Systems integrate speech recognition, speech synthesis, retrieval-augmented generation, and avatar animation, with empirical human-subject evaluation of the resulting interactions.

Immersive Systems & XR

Immersive research environments

Design and evaluation of VR and AR systems involving avatars, multimodal interaction, conversational interfaces, and human-subject studies.

Design and evaluation of Unity- and Unreal-based VR and AR environments involving avatars, multimodal interaction, and conversational interfaces. Human-subject studies combine behavioral and interaction data with quantitative and qualitative analysis to examine how people use and experience immersive systems.

Localization & Multimodal Sensing

Localization and mapping visualization

GPS-independent localization using LiDAR, Wi-Fi, inertial, and visual sensing.

Research on GPS-independent localization and tracking uses multimodal sensor data, including LiDAR, Wi-Fi, inertial sensors, and visual data. Current work evaluates and improves methods using two-dimensional LiDAR, with an emphasis on robust localization where GPS may be unavailable or unreliable.
